Porcelain veneers, carefully made

Porcelain veneers are thin ceramic shells bonded to the front of teeth, for Richmond patients wanting to change tooth shape, colour or proportion after a consultation.

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made ceramic shells that are bonded to the front surface of teeth. They can change the colour, shape, length and proportion of teeth that are chipped, worn, discoloured or unevenly spaced.

Fitting a veneer usually involves removing a thin layer of enamel so the veneer sits naturally, which means the treatment is not reversible. Porcelain resists staining well and, with good care, veneers often last many years before they need replacing.

  • Chipped, worn or uneven front teeth
  • Small gaps or minor misalignment where orthodontics is not preferred
  • Adults with healthy gums and a stable bite

What to expect

  1. 01

    Smile consultation

We talk through what you would like to change, check your teeth, gums and bite, and take photos and a digital scan.

  2. 02

    Design and preview

A wax-up or trial smile lets you see the proposed shape and length before any tooth is prepared.

  3. 03

    Preparation

The teeth are gently prepared under local anaesthetic, scanned, and covered with temporary veneers while the porcelain is made.

  4. 04

    Bonding

At the final visit we check fit and shade, then bond each veneer in place and polish the edges.

How do I look after porcelain veneers?

Brush and floss as you would natural teeth and keep up regular check-ups. Avoid biting hard objects such as ice, pens or fingernails. If you grind your teeth at night, a custom night guard helps protect the porcelain.

Common questions

With good care many veneers last 10 to 15 years or longer. Grinding, trauma and gum changes can shorten their life, so regular reviews matter.
